Disney’s Online Store, ShopDisney, now live in India
Disney’s online store is available in India. ShopDisney.in is now open for ordering and will serve more than 500 cities in India at launch, Disney said, with merchandise pulled from its list of brands: Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and Disney itself. Over 3,000 items are available on ShopDisney.in at launch, including clothing, toys, accessories, and school essentials. As part of your ShopDisney order, you can choose unique Disney-designed shipping boxes or even gift wrap your items. Free shipping is only offered at ShopDisney. On orders that cross Rs. 999.
“With shopDisney, our effort is to provide Disney Licensed products inspired by our stories and characters for every home across the country, ”Disney India Chief Executive Officer and Head of Consumer Products Sanjeet Mehta said in a mailed statement. “ShopDisney will extend the magic of Disney and be a truly immersive experience for children and families wherever and whenever they want.”
At first glance, ShopDisney.in appears to be exactly what we expected: Disney India brings everything it sold on third-party platforms, but now internally, with items sold by companies like Superhero Toy Store, Pace Sports, and Macmerise among others. Disney still does not sell directly to Indian consumers and as such does not appear to have brought any new products. It just acts as an aggregator.
It’s nothing like what we had waited It would be: the Indian equivalent of ShopDisney.com. For example, the action figure department only has plastic collectibles and Funko Pops, and there are no signs of the die-cast figures from Disney’s Elite series. In fact, it seems that there is no presence of the current most popular Disney property: The mandalorian. Imagine launching a Disney store in 2020 without any Baby Yoda, I mean The Child toys. That is exactly what ShopDisney.in is right now.
For what it’s worth, Disney India says the product line “will continue to grow.” We hope you do, quickly. Because this is not the store we are looking for.
