Hitman developer is working on James Bond Origin Story Game Project 007
James Bond returns to video games. Hitman developer IO Interactive has announced that they are working on Project 007 (working title) which will feature the first “fully original” Bond origin story, with players stepping into their shoes to earn their Double O IO status. Interactive, as developer and publisher, will be working with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, film producer Bond EON Productions, and video game financier Delphi on Project 007. It will be done for “modern systems and platforms,” which means Project 007 It should be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X at a minimum.
Project 007 does not have a launch window, but Interactive IO said it is currently in “active development” at the IO Interactive studios in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden. Both locations are recruiting talent from around the world and you can apply for positions at IO Interactive’s racing website. The Bond game is being developed using IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier game engine technology, which has also been used in the last three Hitman games it has worked on.
Project 007 will be the first Link game from 2012’s 007 Legends, released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie, Dr. No. The game was heavily criticized except for its multiplayer parts. The last Bond game to receive positive reviews was 2003’s James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, released for the Game Boy Advance, GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. Of course, the most notable entry is GoldenEye 007 from 1997 for the Nintendo 64, a landmark entry for the first-person shooter genre.

Before Project 007, Bond’s next on-screen appearance will be Daniel Craig’s last appearance in the live action film. No time to die which has been delayed due to COVID-19 and is currently scheduled for release April 2, 2021, in cinemas around the world.
