New MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini with Apple M1 SoC: Prices in India
Apple just introduced new versions of its popular 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Mini computers powered by its own Apple M1 SoC. Apple announced earlier this year that it would begin transitioning its entire Mac product line to internal ARM-based processors from the Intel X86 CPUs it has been using for the past 15 years. The first of this new generation of Apple Silicon processors is called Apple M1, which features eight cores (four high-power and four low-power), as well as a custom integrated GPU, an image signal processor, Secure Enclave and Neural Engine. The Apple M1 is designed with a new unified memory architecture that is said to improve energy efficiency and is manufactured in a 5nm process.
New 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini prices in India
The new updated 13-inch MacBook Pro will be priced starting at Rs. 1,22,900 with 256GB of storage and Rs. 1.42,900 for 512GB of storage. These are the same prices as the older MacBook Pro models. Prices in the United States are $ 1,299 and $ 1,499 respectively. Both have 8GB of unified memory. The Intel-based 13-inch MacBook Pro models are also listed, with 512GB and 1TB of storage priced at Rs. 1,74,900 and Rs. 1,94,900 respectively. All variants are sold in silver and space gray.
The MacBook Air with Apple M1 SoC will also keep the same prices as before, with a 256GB variant priced at Rs. 92,900 in India and a 512GB model priced at Rs. 1,17,900. Prices in the US are $ 999 and $ 1249 respectively. MacBook Air with Intel technology models are no longer listed. Color options are Silver, Space Gray, and Gold.
The Mac Mini gets a price reduction of $ 100 and the corresponding decrease in India too, with the 256GB version now priced at Rs. 64,900 and 512GB version at Rs. 84,900. Prices in the US are $ 699 and $ 899 respectively, and Silver is the only option. A single Intel-powered variant is still on the list.
Education pricing is also available for all new Macs with Apple Silicon technology. They will be available in the US next week. All new Macs are configured with 8GB of memory by default and an upgrade to 16GB at the time of purchase will cost Rs. 20,000 extra. the Apple Online Store in India is already accepting orders and lists November 25 as the earliest ship date.
Apple M1 SoC Features and Performance
According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, more than 50 percent of shoppers are new to Macs, and 2020 has been the best year for the product line. Apple has been making its own SoCs for iPhones and iPads for more than a decade, and the company has spent several years developing the Apple M1 SoC. Is he first of a family of chips, and more powerful variants are expected in the coming years to power higher-end MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro and Mac Pro models, in addition to any new ones that Apple may announce.
The M1 SoC (not to be confused with Apple’s M-series line of motion coprocessors) is primarily designed for small size and power efficiency. With a high level of integration, it replaces multiple discrete chips in previous generation Macs, including the CPU, I / O controllers, safety coprocessor, and memory controller. A unified memory architecture allows all blocks to access a single pool of memory to avoid duplication and reduce latency and power consumption. Apple also says it has taken advantage of a industry leading 5nm process to pack 16 billion transistors on each chip.
There are four high-performance CPU cores, which Apple claims are the fastest in the world and offer the world’s best performance per watt. These cores are said to deliver significantly higher performance using a quarter the power of today’s leading notebook CPUs, and deliver 3 times the performance of current Intel-powered Macs. The four efficiency cores alone are said to be as powerful as the current Intel dual-core CPU that powers the MacBook Air, but they consume much less power.
In terms of graphics performance, it has eight GPU cores providing 2.6 Teraflops of performance. Apple says it is the most powerful integrated GPU in the world. It’s said to be twice as powerful as current GPUs, or consumers have one-third the power to deliver the same levels of performance. The software also has access to more memory than ever.
Other features include the acceleration of machine learning thanks to the neural engine, capable of performing 11 trillion operations per second, for tasks such as image resolution improvement, video reframing and speech recognition that are drastically improved. Secure Enclave promises best-in-class security.
MacOS 11 Big Sur It is designed to schedule tasks between the high performance and efficiency cores. Macs powered by Apple Silicon are said to wake up instantly from sleep just like iPhones and iPads. All Apple software has been optimized, and vendors, including Adobe, are preparing updates for their offerings. Logic Pro is said to allow up to 3 times more instruments and effects plug-ins. Final Cut Pro is said to run 6 times faster when rendering complex timelines. MacOS 11 will be available for download starting Thursday, November 12.
The Universal Apps will combine native binary versions for Apple as well as Intel CPUs and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store or the web to run on all Macs. Rosetta 2 translation seamlessly runs applications built for Intel CPUs, even no updates. Additionally, iPad and iPhone applications, including games, will be able to run natively.
MacBook Air powered by Apple Silicon
According to Apple, the MacBook Air is the world’s best-selling 13-inch laptop. Now you can perform tasks that were previously impossible on such a thin and light device, thanks to 3.5x faster CPU performance, 5x faster graphics and 9x faster machine learning than the previous generation. The new MacBook Air is said to be faster than 98 percent of the PC laptops sold last year.
The new MacBook Air is now fanless and runs completely silent. Offers up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing and 18 hours of video playback, 6 hours longer than before.
13-inch MacBook Air with Apple Silicon technology
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is said to be 2.8 times faster, with up to 5 times faster graphics and 11 times faster machine learning than the previous generation, making it the world’s fastest compact business notebook. . It uses active cooling to enable sustained performance on tasks such as video transcoding and code compilation. Battery life is up to 17 hours of wireless web browsing and 20 hours of video playback, 10 hours longer than before. This is the longest battery life a Mac has ever had. Apple also promises studio-quality microphones for video calls or audio recording, plus the improved M1 camera processor for sharper videos with less grain and better contrast in bright conditions. low light. It has two USB 4 compatible Thunderbolt ports and can drive the Apple Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution, all with the same design as before.
Mac Mini powered by Apple Silicon
The new Mac Mini is said to be up to 3x faster in terms of CPU performance than the previous version, with a 6x increase in graphics performance and 15x faster machine learning. It’s also said to be only one-tenth the size of today’s best-selling desktop PC, and up to 5 times faster.
