Nothing Ear 1 Features
Nothing’s older concept featured true wireless headphones with a transparent shell and the final product largely adheres to those ideas with a transparent outer shell that reveals the inside of the headphones. Apart from this, the charging case is also transparent, with a unique design that allows you to see the headphones while charging, as well as the indicator light inside the case.
For charging, the Nothing Ear 1 case relies on USB Type-C and Qi wireless charging, with the earbuds magnetically hooked to draw power from the case’s battery. Battery life is claimed to be up to 5.7 hours per charge on the earbuds and up to 34 hours total with the case – that’s five additional charges from the case. Fast charging via USB Type-C supports a 10-minute charge that is claimed to provide up to 8 hours of listening time.
Like many products in this price range recently launched, Nothing Ear 1 features active noise cancellation, with two intensity levels to control the level. There is also a transparency mode to allow easy hearing of the surroundings. The Nothing Ear 1 has touch controls to allow easy control of playback, noise cancellation, and transparency and volume modes.
Controls and noise cancellation intensity settings can be toggled and customized via the Ear 1 app, which will be available for iOS and Android. Additional app features include equalizer settings, quick pairing, and firmware updates, as well as in-ear detection that plays or pauses music when headphones are put on or taken off, respectively.
Nothing Ear 1 features 11.6mm dynamic drivers designed and developed in collaboration with the Swedish company Teenage engineering. For connectivity, there’s Bluetooth 5.2, with support for the Bluetooth SBC and AAC codecs.
