Redmi’s Upcoming TV Model for India Will Offer Dolby Vision HDR Support
Xiaomi is scheduled to launch the Redmi Smart TV in India on March 17 and has teased that the TV will have an ‘XL Experience’, suggesting that it will be available only in large screen variants with 4K HDR displays. On Thursday, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain teased certain features of the TV series, and the TV is expected to be the company’s most affordable big screen TV in India. The new TV follows the Mi QLED TV 4K, which was launched in December at a price of Rs. 54,999 for the single 55-inch variant.
The release date of the next TV had already been Announced like March 17. The new tweet by Manu Kumar Jain reveals more details, including some features of the TV. In particular, the tweet mocks even more of an ‘XL Experience’, suggesting that the TV will be available only in large-screen variants; that is, the Redmi Smart TV will likely be available in screen sizes of 55 inches or more. Also, the tweet mentions that Dolby Vision, HDR10 + and Vivid Picture Engine will be supported, which pretty much confirms that this will be a 4K TV with HDR support.
A short video teaser shows some design elements of the TV, suggesting that the TV will have a basic and functional design with a focus on screen size and feature set. Redmi is the company’s affordable brand for smartphones and accessories, so the Redmi Smart TV is also likely to be more affordable in price than the Mi range that has been available in India for a while. Like Xiaomi’s existing range, Redmi TV is also likely to run Android TV with the PatchWall user interface.
The company’s last major launch in the television space was the My QLED TV 4K in December, priced at Rs. 54,999. Xiaomi’s first QLED TV in India, it also has Dolby Vision HDR support and runs Android TV 10 with Android TV and PatchWall launchers.
