The Suicide Squad reunites Sylvester Stallone with James Gunn
Sylvester Stallone will be part of the massive cast of The Suicide Squad, screenwriter and director James Gunn announced. It also marks a reunion for the two, having worked on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It is unknown which character Stallone will play, but given that filming for The Suicide Squad concluded before the COVID-19 closures in February, There seems to be only one rumored possibility: Stallone is voicing a character who has no human face, like King Shark. But that is unconfirmed and, for now, her role has simply not been revealed.
“I always love working with my friend [Sylvester Stallone] and our work today in [The Suicide Squad] was no exception. Even though Sly is an iconic movie star, most people still have no idea how amazing this actor is. 🙌, ”Gunn wrote in a caption on his Instagram. Stallone then shared a screenshot of the news on his Instagram and wrote: “Working with this incredible director on this amazing project has made this an incredible year. I am a very lucky man to be surrounded by so much talent! ”
In addition to Stallone, the cast of The Suicide Squad includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as the Captain Boomerang, Alice Braga as Sol Soria, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Michael Rooker as Savant, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2, Steve Agee as King Shark, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Flula Borg as Javelin, Mayling Ng as Mongal and Taika Waititi among others.
The Suicide Squad is scheduled to premiere on August 6, 2021 in theaters around the world.
